In Laos, the pronatalist approach is taken, this
means birth rate is encouraged. The effect the pronatalist approach has on Laos is an increase in the population. About 70 years ago Laos's population was at about 1.7 million people. With the pronatalist approach in effect, the population has grown to about 7.3 million people today. |
To be able to visit Laos, depending where you live in the world, you will need a Visa ahead of time or get one while at Laos. You are only allowed to stay for a maximum of 30 days, which can be extended if the Department of Immigration in Vientiane deems it so.

Laos has a stable population, the population
slowly declines with age, this means there is a healthy amount of young to old people. It also has a healthy amount of men to women. |
Laos underwent reforms called the New Economic Mechanism in 1986 that decentralized government control and encouraged private enterprise alongside state-owned enterprises. Currently, Laos ranks among the fastest growing economies in the world, averaging 8% a year in GDP growth.
